Santas Vault is a Brisbane family business. Mum, dad and five kids, a blended family, and the same December every Australian family has: heat, backyard cricket, leftover ham, and kids who still believe or are doing a good job of pretending.
Why we built it
Every year we did the same thing. Left the wrapping too late, paid too much for something that arrived on the 23rd, and spent Christmas Eve hunting for a bag that did not have last year's tape all over it.
So we built the shop we wanted to buy from. Things with the kids' names printed on them. Designs you can come back to next November instead of starting over. Sacks and stockings that go back in the cupboard on Boxing Day rather than in the bin.
Nothing here is meant to be thrown away. We choose what goes in the range and write down the details of every listing.
The elves came with us
Years ago we ran Entropy, a toy shop that sold wooden and educational toys. Every December the elves helped pick, pack and get orders out the door on time. They were good at it, and they were a bit of a handful.
They are still here, on the website at least. We design the range and look after every order. Print partners, most of them in Australia, make the personalised pieces, and the stocked range ships straight from Australian warehouses.
How we work
Most personalised items are printed here in Australia, with three exceptions: some Your Design or Ours pieces are printed by partners that may print outside Australia; our Santa sacks and Christmas stockings are printed to order in the United Kingdom and our pet bandanas in the USA, and both take 3 to 7 weeks to arrive, and the listing says so before you buy. Every product page shows the real last order date for delivery before Christmas, worked back from our production time and the carrier's own transit times, so you can plan instead of guess.
We are not trying to sell you everything. We are trying to make the part you actually have to organise take an afternoon instead of a fortnight.
The elves are already in the workshop. We are just the family who lets them stay.
